Anyone have experience with a puppy eating a pattern?!

I am working on a Dimensions kit # 70-08836 called Santa's Nap. My puppy got hold of one of the pattern pages and ripped it up... I've managed to tape *most* of it together, but a couple pieces around the bottom border are gone. I'd hate to have to repurchase the entire kit when I only need part of the pattern. Suggestions?

Hello Brody and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! You have just illustrated why it is a good idea to make a working copy of your chart! Working copies are usually allowed by the designer especially for stitchers who have puppies, children and who drink coffee or tea while stitching and have a cat who likes to walk on the table and might accidentally knock over a glass. That being said, I think if you send a copy of that picture to Dimensions they will send you another chart. I hope that you will stay for a while and post pictures of your work. We love pictures and we love puppies. Many of us have animal assistants when stitching, though in my case I think I get feline supervision more than assistance.

Hi Brody and Welcome from me too its great that you have joined us. Dimensions are great about replacing charts - if they are still in stock so do get in touch with them asap. Puppies will be puppies of course and anything is fair game I guess.

As Carole has said a lot of us have animals who are 'helpful' in various ways. My supervisor is a part Siamese cat who lands on my lap won't curl up or lie down just sits tall and that is the end of stitching until I tip him off. Dear boy he is - not.

At least the puppy didn't eat the project. I have had that happen fortunately not too far into the project but a huge waste of cloth. On a similar note, I restarted a long lost xs-collectibles project and she was kind enough to replace the first few pages that I had lost. It is nice to know that Dimensions may do something similar according to a previous post.

Update... Dimensions emailed me a complete copy of the pattern 24 hours after asking for it! Great customer service!

Also, one thing I didn't like about the original pattern was that it was divided into 4 sections, with 2 each on a 2-sided page... the 2-sided page made it incredibly difficult to line up the stitches as you worked from one quarter into another. With the email, I got the four sections all on separate pages. So it's going to be much easier to follow.

I guess I have Oliver (the puppy) to thank for that!... And I did find him with the actual project in his mouth one day-- I think he was trying to eat the embroidery hoop. Luckily I rescued it before any damage was done. And I'm being much more careful about putting everything away!

I had a similar experience with Dimensions but I simply lost the chart. Not sure if I sent in a picture of my WIP as proof but they did send me a copy of the chart within 24 hours. Great to know they will help you out.

Not just homework and stitching charts. One of my dogs once ate half of a €5.00 bill. Guess where I saw the lost half a day later...

No, no puppy problems here. Oh, except I do remember a German Shepherd puppy who found and chewed my nice little Olympus camera into scrap aluminium...
BUT...
I'm SO glad that, when I buy a chart these days, it usually comes as a .PDF file. That way, it's always there in my laptop's innards, and I can print off new pages as and when the necessity arises!
