As I found too late that the Fiskar's Shapecutter couldn't handle the cards I use for my stitching, I thought I'd ask about this one first. I saw it advertised and it seems a good way of adding a nice embossed touch to cards, e.g. having embossed corners. However, I couldn't find anywhere what thickness of card it will still work with; presumably, the thicker the card the less detail you get from your embossing, but would it still be visible with 220g card or thicker? If any of you know, I'd be very grateful to hear your advice and experiences.
By the way, I found an instruction video on eBay by none othe than our own Godzone! (take a bow ). Does that mean you can tell me all I need to know about it?
Lee's mum had one and i dont really remember how she got on with it but i do no i aint seen it for agesssss, shes away 4 the weekend so cant ask her about it, if she phones ill ask her, if not ill ask her when shes back for u Mabel
No problem, im sure she just uses brass/metal embossing stensils and a small light box now or her little gadget machine thing she has lol. Ill let a run down of whats good n not to for u.
Hi Mabel, just come off the phone with Sandra, she said.
'To get the best effect of the embossing pearlsent card is the best one to use, if u are going to use light coloured card like a cream then it doesnt show up to well but u could chalk or colour it in, maybe even use embossing powders/glitter. There are also two size of this shapeboss, a big one and a little one... the big one is better in my eyes as there is more choice of stensils and u can do bigger card/paper u can do 12 x 12. You can do any card on this...i aint had a problem with it. What u do is pic the pattern n place one part of the plastic stensil on the box and then place ur card on, u then place the other plastic stensil of the same pattern on top and emboss away, u cant go wrong. I cant pin point no down fall with this, but everyone is different. I would also recommend pricing both up as there may not be much of a price difference.'
Hope this helps, if u have anymore questions she'll be happy to help. She loves card making etc and has alot of this sort of stuff.
Thanks Sammy, that's really helpful! The mini one would be fine for me as I'd only want to do corners of standard sized cards (4x6in). I found a not too expensive one on eBay but I think I've just missed the end time for that... but I'm sure there'll be more!
Thanks again, also to Sandra
