I do not make them but wonder if any members on here do. Saw a short excerpt on TV about Welsh Quilt Association & thought you may interested in the articles. I will look on the quilt museum one another time but I do admire the time taken to make them & all the patterns. They found some really old ones & put them in a quilt museum, think it is St. Fagan's, Wales
The ladies were Welsh & they meet in a place called Llandiloes. So many different colours & designs, beautiful to see.

Re: Any quilters?
I enjoy quilting - used to do a lot of it at one time, but the standing for ages to cut out one got beyond me. I will be making an odd one now and again though - mostly as some way to preserve the various pieces of stitching I have accumulated or inherited.
I recently saw a beautiful quilt made using the 6 lady's beautiful needlework which has given me heaps of ideas for some of my stash.
I made all my 7 grandchildren a simple quilt each using a big central printed picture and then just various colours of sashing. It was fun but very tiring and oh my aching back.

Re: Any quilters?
what a god idea Sally to make quilts with some of your handiworks, a lovely heirloom. Heard about Quilt Museum in Llandiloes.
Some of the child's quilts are found filled with wool (what else being in Wales,
), occasionally items of clothing are found inside as padding, anything to help add warmth. Large ones have been found wrapped round straw bales, across old tractors etc. Ladies who love to quilt take them apart, wash & re-pad them - then rejuvenated quilts are taken to the quilt museum to put on show.
One of my neighbours makes quilts, sells hers at one of several oriels (craft galleries) there are dotted about Wales. Been in a couple - lovely jewellery, paintings, needlecraft & other handiwork. Each gallery takes a small percentage of each sale to help upkeep of the premises.
