AN AWESOME SIGHT

Post by Squirrel »

Some of you may be aware that a lot of areas in NSW and Queensland are in severe drought. Some areas haven't seen rain since October last year and rather than green grass and trees it is red dirt for thousands of miles.

Just recently calls have gone out for aid for those affected and it is being royally answered. Distances are huge in Australia, for example when I fly to my son's home in Perth Western Aus. it is a 5 hr flight.

On our news was a most wonderful sight. 6 huge trucks and trailer unit heading to inland NSW with donated hay bales driving in from Tasmania. Then last night was an awesome sight on the tv- 16 huge trucks and trailer units parking in a barren field after at least 4 days driving from WA each one carrying 1 ton of hay. All donated by farmers in WA and apparently it is just the first delivery. Each truck had 2 drivers, 1 slept and the other driving so they could keep going 24 hrs to get it over here.
After a 12 hour break they were going to be headed out to the most desperately in need.. Some run holders have had to walk off their land and others are shooting their stock rather than see them dying slowly from starvation and thirst.

A small reprieve for some and welcome news for others that another convey is planned. All trucks and drivers pay were donated too.

A big help in time of need and wonderful to see.

I just had a look at out long range weather forecadt, coastal Queensland may get "some small showers" next weekend. Inland wants/needs days of it.

How wonderful for those who have helping those who have not. Seen on our TV news how drastic it is in many arts of Australia. & heard how some farmers are having to shoot their animals. Awful to have a drought like that & hope & pray rain will come soon to this very parched part of the globe.

This is absolutely wonderful to read , it has been on our news about the dreadful drought, calling it the worst in living memory, but to read this is wonderful.

:stars: :stars: :stars: each and every one who has answered the call for help. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

It really does restore one's faith in humanity.

I also pray for rain for Australia.

That is wonderful and restores my faith in people. I wish there was more of that kind of news of people helping and saving and being kind to each other that what often is on the air. I too am sending prayers and wishes that rain comes soon to drought stricken areas.
