Some previous makes

Post by Jessica28 »

These are what I have kept. You may have seen them before as they were popular kits.

First picture is a kit my DS & BIL bought me a long time ago when they went on holiday down south. Think they went to Hampshire & Dorset.

2nd picture is a kit I originally stitched for my BIL as he likes fishing & the wildlife he sees. Liked the kit so much when I had completed it bought another one for us.

3rd one is beautiful when you see it but it did not photograph very well. Best I could do after taking 4 pictures.

They're all lovely but I'm not surprised you chose to do the kingfisher twice, he's gorgeous!

Thank you Mabel. The shimmering & glossy background threads add to the kingfisher one. A Derwentwater Design.

All the finishes are beautiful and perfectly stitched. Your kingfisher makes me think about buying myself a kit with long stitch and trying my hand. This bird in this technique looks better than in cross stitch. Very well done, Jessica.

Thank you.

I love the rhythm you get when doing long stitch, it is very relaxing. Hardest parts on this picture were top of birds head & the rings of water where the fish has jumped up. The main water section was almost hypnotic to do but when you need to unwind it is good as it soothes your brain.

I do have a smaller long stitch kit with a cat & flowers in it, quite intricate but easier designs are available & a good introduction to this other needlecraft to see if you enjoy it or not. I started long stitch & tapestry a long time ago & did a few again as gifts in the past 10 or so years.

Decided to take up counted x stitch when I saw a neighbour received Christmas cards made by her family. They were very pretty & so nicely done. I thought I would definitely start this new hobby as I had been deliberating for a number of years, now I am hooked :)

Along with the various needlecrafts I have always done knitting.

Very pretty pieces. The kingfisher is really striking. The last one is such a pretty design. I think we've had a number of members who have stitched it. The colors are so peaceful and your stitching is very well done.

What fabulous stitching you have done on all 3. I especially love the Kingfisher, he is so gaudy and gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them. What are you stitching now?

Thank you so much for more lovely comments.

The 3rd picture is very bright & colourful, cheerful on a gloomy day. It is Dimensions Overlook Café & although small is intricate with various thickness of thread. Half stitches done from 1 strand to 4 strands of thread & some blends too.

Am doing Dimensions larger kit, Lakeside Village. Keep wanting to call it Lakeside Vista or Lakeside Villas but both are wrong titles. Again different thicknesses of threads to add the vista, esp. the backdrop of hills/mountains. Half stitches & blends in this one too. Intend doing more stitching before I add it to the Stitch A Long topic. Some half stitches have 5 strands of thread so using thicker needle top help open up Aida to them get through as easily as possible.
