New here, and hello to all
Hello, friendly stitchers!
My name is Kristina and I'm new here. Was on the forum on cross-stitching.com, but only for a short time, then it was shut down.
I love cross-stitch (obviously), ☺ especially patterns of scenes that are in any way unusual and not to be found around the next corner. I've been stitching when I was young, and only started it again about 5 years ago.
I'm happy that I'm a member of this forum now!

Welcome from the West of Scotland!
Glad you found us. Have a look around — we have a pub!
There’s lots to see on the forum, and be sure to have a look around the galleries of other members’ work. I always find it inspiring.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. It's pretty international here, which is really nice. I did post a thread in the SAL, as you guys suggested. Already had a look at some works of yours and there are things that have just amazed me. I'm not the internet-type of person and wished I could meet you in person at a local needlework group, but still, I'm glad I discovered this place. It's very inspiring.

Re: New here, and hello to all
Very few things beat an actual, physical stitching group, with face-to-face chat (and lots of tea) - I am loucky enough to belong to two (one weekly in term time, one monthly) and they're great. But this Forum is so lovely I hesitate to call it The Next Best Thing - it's definitely Just As Good A Thingkaliii wrote: I'm not the internet-type of person and wished I could meet you in person at a local needlework group, but still, I'm glad I discovered this place. Re: New here, and hello to all
Hahaha! That's why I registered here. I yearned a lot for company, because stitching can be a bit lonesome. Haven't found a (real life) group close by yet, but I'm on the lookout. Yes, I agree absolutely, the forum is a very good solution.
Re: New here, and hello to all
I think there are many of us who aren't anywhere near a sewing group we can join. I found one several years ago that was within driving distance and then after a year or so the owner of the needlework shop sold it and the group ceased to exist. I was so glad to have the forum. There are a few features which only an online forum can have and that is the fact that it is always open and we cover so many time zones that a response is usually not more than a day or two away, if that long.

Re: New here, and hello to all
This Forum is definitely the'next best thing'
I go to a local cafe in the village on a Friday morning. Sometimes there's just 4 or so and it's lovely! We chat and knit or stitch and you can hear everybody...then another time there are 8+ and it's totally different!! I'm going deaf so I struggle to hear what people are saying.
But it's fun all the same and I've made good friends there. We exchange patterns and books as well as encouraging others to try new things.
I taught one friend how to do Hardanger and she encouraged me to do more Blackwork.
A bit like here really...without the sound!!!
I've learnt so much and I think we all gain from being members of the Forum!
