I was having trouble reading my printed chart one evening, so I opened it up on the computer (it was one I had downloaded), and it was clear as a bell and I could zoom in to get a better look at the symbols, half stitches and backstitching. What a difference! Just wish I could somehow mark off what I've already stitched. I discovered how to put the charts on my phone, also, and that works even better because I don't have to try to balance my laptop somewhere while I stitch.
I have moved to only using computer versions of my charts. There are apps that work very well and allow you to mark off squares as you stitch.
I use Goodnotes and absolutely love it. I can zoom in, out, highlight where I've stitched. Since I am a cross country stitcher, I can plot out a path for the more confetti laden sections. I use this on my iPad and make so many less mistakes. For charts that I don't have a pdf version, I will scan them in to the computer much like making a work copy and then delete when I'm done with it. I'm sure there are other apps around also. Goodnotes has a free version, I think, though the paid version didn't cost much, if I remember correctly.
