Heat & Wombats

Post by richardandtracy »

Wendy,

Hope you are coping with the high temperatures without suffering too much. Cannot be nice having record temps and the high humidity being reported (44C+ has been reported, equivalent to 111F - well above blood heat) . Stay cool & safe.
I start melting at 25C, so 44C seems like unimaginable misery to me, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

All the best,

Richard.

Thanks Richard.

My friend sent me a picture of her local Pharmacy recording 45.1 C yesterday!!

We haven't had higher than 39.5 here just north of Toulouse...but that's hot enough!! :hot: :hot: :hot:

I wilt at 27C and I am finding the heat unbearable at times. We have a portable air-con unit in the house and I'm often found in front of it!!
We also have a small plunge pool but that is now about 30C so not as refreshing as it was!

 for thinking of us here...I sent D/H (protesting slightly ) to the market this morning....I used the excuse that the hanging baskets needed watering!

You guys have had a brutal time. How long will it last? Our weather here is set to break today, but it will still be hot (for us) at 22C, just extra steamy. Oh, joy unbounded.

We're set for heatwave temperatures here in the Midlands as well - just as we're having our church open day! I'm sure the outside stalls will do fine, but will people want a cream tea in these temperatures....?

Mabel,

If you have a fridge at the church, maybe home made lemonade would be a massive seller...

Wendy,

Glad to hear you have an ACU. Could be a life saver.

Regards,

Richard

Wendy, while keeping the heat at bay, you may want to divert yourself with this wombat-in-a-washing-machine (no wombats got hurt :-))

(I had to do some jiggery-pokery to make the video accessible outside Facebook but that link should work. Let me know if ti doesn't.)

I agree and hope that it is over soon for any and all of you who are in the midst of this heat wave.

Thank you!
I shall imagine myself sliding down that ice!!

We did find a fun and Free way of cooling a few days ago!
The farmer is irrigating his field next to us and the water jet was so positioned as to send the spray over our garden and field.
We stood under the spray like a pair of school kids and danced in the water jet each time it pulsed over the hedge. :whoop: :whoop:

I am glad that you have found a fun way to get refreshed, Wendy. :D

Good on you for making use of the free water, it all helps. What bothers me about the high temperatures over is two fold - hoping everyone is sensible and coping ok even when dripping with sweat, and what the heck is our summer going to be like here in the sub tropics.
My mother always maintained that our Christchurch (NZ) weather followed the English weather of the same seasons and she was usually right.
As far as I am concerned anything over 35 and I quit and read or do puzzles or something inside with a fan going.

Hang in there friends it should be soon over. :)
