Why do I never seem to have the right frame?

Post by Angel »

So, I know in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing and I should totally just deal with it, but... Urgh! My ADHD is going haywire cooped up inside, my coping mechanism is to craft, but I'm so far down this rabbit hole now that I can't even craft which is making me worse! I FINALLY dragged myself out far enough to get a project in mind and... I can't do it!

I've designed the pattern, I've drawn out the area, done the math and... I don't have a frame that will work! AT ALL! I'm making a Tudor chemise for myself, so I've got one long fabric piece because the embroidery needs completing before I can cut and sew. The entire 60" wide by just below my knee x2 long (I'm 5'10" so pretty long), to work a design around a 7x10" neckline. So my actual embroidery area is only 12x9 at most... My biggest hoop is a 6" and I've lost the clamps to attach it to my floor stand which is where I really want it because it's also linen/cotton which is ridiculously heavy! :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: It's totally cool if I go throw myself on the floor and scream while kicking my arms and legs around like my 4 year old right? That's not melodramatic at all?

Ok, venting done, back to being a grown up, but why do I never have the right size frame despite my kinda large stash of the things?

What size hoop do you need? If ordering one is not an option I could lend you one - I too have a fairly considerable stash :-) (I think I could manage any size up to 12" from what I'm currently not using...)
Would a deep hoop be better?

Oh, that's simple. Because if you had exactly what you needed it'd be too easy.

What sort of floor stand do you have? And I also have hoops, including 8" and 10" which fit in a barrel-thingy, which I've used in a seat frame, a floor stand and also attached to a table...

Oh, and I think having a tantrum at the start of another 3-week lockdown is an understandable reaction. Totally. Or throw crockery in the designated room at the Stash & Grab. Or both.

Awww thank you Mabel, it's ok though. I've ordered one and it will get here when it gets here I guess, it's just really frustrating! :tantrum: I've got out the basting thread now and am just marking out all the areas, but all my estimated arrival dates are June lol I guess I can get my 6inch out and just move it around, it's not as though I have nothing, I just don't have what I want and am feeling a bit like a toddler at the moment

I'm doing a blackwork edging for the neckline of a Tudor chemise, the neckline is 10x7 inches so depending on how many rows I put in I expect the embroidery to come just shy of an inch around but could be more... It's going to be lovely though, I've got a nice little Yorkshire rose repeating pattern.

It's called Sod's Law, Angel! :tizzy:

The same goes for looking for something, remembering that you hadn't had 'need' for it and giving it to the Charity shop last year Or, even worse...Throwing it in the waste bin Yesterday just before the bins were emptied!!! :tantrum:

I hope your order comes quickly and you don't have to vent your frustrations and screaming!!

Haha or maybe it's my craft rooms way of telling me to finish unpacking because I have to have something suitable somewhere lol

My focus seems to have returned temporarily at least, so that's a good thing.I'm editing videos today.

Blackwork motifs are very soothing to stitch once you get the rhythm.

 oops!

:tizzy: Isn't strange how we hang onto something, sometimes for years...find it...realise that we haven't used it for years..dispose of it. Then because it has come back into memory banks, we understand Why we kept it...JUST TOO LATE! :tantrum:
