Jo's this is one I made Earlier

Post by Steam.Jo »

I had a request to post some pictures of my other pieces of work. Sadly many have been lost/given away over the years so this is a small part of the items.

Starting when I was about 14 years old I did a piece of black work:

About 20 years later I have a few of a religious flavour:

The historical one:

Sorry about the pictures being at a slight angle I am trying to avoid glare from the kitchen lights

And there have been many cushions over the years most seem to have been aged by the sun :tantrum: This one still has to be made up:

I have already shown a few of my far Eastern ones on my stitch along, so here is another:

You have already seen my hedgehogs  and my Wren so this is some Dormice:

And a few more of my Permin ones:

This is a series that is waiting until I have completed all of them and I will get them framed as a matching set

That's it for the completed pictures so unless you want to see my UFO's :ratherbe:

I like your choice of designs. Each work is beautifuly and neatly stitched. Together they make a collection at which one can look forever without getting bored or irritated. Thank you very much for sharing.

Oh my gosh, those are all beautiful! I think my favorites are the train and "to everything there is a season"...and, of course, all the Pooh ones. You could make a really cute afghan with the Pooh and friends squares.

If you want to share your UFO's, I promise we will all encourage you to keep going on them. (Easy for me to say...I haven't picked up a needle yet today...I sat down at my computer a few hours ago to pay bills and here I still am.)

What an amazing array of your stitching talents. They are all masterpieces on their own and together make a wonderful display. It would be hard to decide which is a favourite but I do love the Dormmice one. Thank You for sharing it with us. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

ooooh I do like that blackwork! And the Footprints poem - a friend who is an opera singer sang that for us (in a setting by Donald Swann) on our wedding, so really fond memories and so beautifully stitched.

I started doing embroidery when I was about 8 my grandmother taught me. She gave me a linen table service with budgerigar on to do but I only finished the tea cosy  I never found the need for the set so I have not felt inspired to finish the other bits.

I have just spent a couple of hours looking for my dragon that I started when I was 16 .. finally found it on the "I must get on with these pile" I will try to get time to photo the UFOs (the dragon is one of them  )

A couple more finished ones:

A tiger that I did for my sister ( which she did not want :? )

Image

a fuchsia:

Image

And my UFOs  First my Dragon that I started at 16:

Image

Then Harmony, which at the time I found hard work on evenweave but I rather like working on it now (its a bit grubby  )

Image

I started doing these great tits last winter:

Image

As a bit of light relief from some flowers:

Image

The winter before I rather gave up on these deer when I realised that for some reason I had done this in single strand rather than two strands

Image

When I used to work I had to go in and out of London on the train once a week and I had been doing this Lanarte flower piece:

Image

It might be a good one to take to the Friday "come and sow" when it starts up again :thinks:

And this one which after I brought it discovered is a Chinese copy of someone else's design. I made the mistake of buying this on 16 count. The Chinese fabric seems to have been sprayed with paint of something and is very tough and it does not take long before I get holes in my middle finger from pushing the needle through the fabric and that is after I reduced the diameter of the needle and swapped it for a sharper one.

Image

The other problem with this one is the threads pick up the dirt terribly. That panda should be black and white and it seems to be grey. Once finished I will need to work out how to clean it.

So two of these need cleaning. I have no idea of how to do this or if I should try it now or wait until they are finished. :wip:

What a lovely mix of designs. The dragon is really awesome. Is that black fabric you are stitching on or just a multitude of black and maybe other dark threads? Either would drive me nuts.

Thank you, the dragon is on satin which has a sort of wave effect in its surface. One of the problem with it is it stretches
