Bruce hasn't actually been handed in yet, but you are supposed to start the design process and preparations for your next module in good time, so I've got my sample cloth set up for Canvaswork - it's on 18TPI canvas (TPI is the thread count).
I've got a picture I'm hoping to use, but RSN are in the process of changing the Canvas brief - I've been sent part of the draft of the new brief, and in the section about design it is quite dramatically different, so now I don't know whether I'll actually be allowed to use it . I will ask the tutor on Saturday.
A beautiful picture! I do hope that you will be able to use it...or at least modify it so that it does comply with the RSN's brief.
It is part of your heritage and therefore very meaningful to you.
Beautiful picture will make a beautiful project so I also hope that they let you use all or some or a modified version of this one. Can't wait to see this one in action. If is is half as fascinating as Goldwork I will be in awe all over again!

I really love that picture amd have been tempted a few times to buy the kit with it displayed but have managed to turn the page without ordering - after all I am trying to downsize my over full cupboard. Fingers crossed it works out that you can still use it.

I'm going to assume for now that I can use the picture, and I had great fun yesterday going through all my thread boxes (there were rather more than I thought ) to pick lots of different textures and colours to take to class and discuss with the tutor. The second picture shows what happens when you try to take a picture and the cat wanders in...

Looking at the colors and threads you've chosen really makes me hope even more that you can use that photo. Clearly Lexi approves or else she'd be on top of the threads making you choose something different. I'd let the tutor know that any disagreement can cause serious feline opposition.

As if anyone could disagree with Lexi.
The selection chosen looks great
Never having done this sort of Canvaswork (only the more abstract type) I have no idea which, if any, of these will be suitable and which will eventually be used, but it was fun picking them
The canvaswork itself is on hold for the summer, but I did get my beautiful new slate frame bag, made by a lady on Etsy, and we had lots of messaging to work out exactly what I wanted it to look like, and the size. It's a lovely snug fit and I do love the duck fabric

First proper Canvaswork class last Saturday! Much more positive about this module now, although I have yet to put in a stitch
But the canvas is set up and the design transferred and I'm all set to go.
This design is faintly familiar. Did you have a look at something similar a while back? Anyway, it is already clear that the design will work wonderfully with canvas work stitches.
Thanks Serinde - as canvaswork is worked front to back (it is definitely the Mary Quite Contrary of the embroidery world) those two big fat tulips at the front will be the first to be stitched, which is a great way of enticing me in
As for its being familiar, if you scroll back through this thread you will see the photograph it is based on (and will hopefully look like by the time it's finished...)
Funny enough, one of the most beautiful and quite popular in stitching towels is our "nyzynka"- all the work is done on the wrong side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k006E--QXLM
I did it once, but still have no idea why not to stitch on the right side.
