Calling Mabel! Batting!

Mabel, what weight batting do you use when you are finishing your small stitch projects? I want to stitch some of Kathy Schmiltz's "Jolly and Bright' redwork ornaments, and the description in the instructions doesn't really help me (as it's from the US).

It depends what I'm doing. If it's for giving a little lift to fabric put into cards, I use a lightweight 2 oz polyester wadding. I also use that (sometimes doubled) between fabric and foam board if I'm lacing something. And I use a very thick wadding when lacing goldwork, much more solid (see photo below). Hope that helps!

I have some 2mm cotton (I think; it could be poly) something or another. Kinda looks like felt, but it was with all my vilene. Anyway, I think it will work as something to put behind fabric on cardboard for little ornaments. Trying to use stash, rather than buying anything.

Sounds like the stuff I use for goldwork - yes, that would definitely work for ornaments.
