Re: 2025 The Smile for Today
I've been trying to stop making lists for much longer than that. Never works, unfortunately. I'm sure cats refuse to count rather than can't.

One of my kids was a list maker. Still is actually. But when he was about 8 I found papers with lists, including one that was a list of his lists.richardandtracy wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 8:00 pm I've been trying to stop making lists for much longer than that. I have been know to add things to a list when I'd already done them, just so I could cross them off....

I hope that's just the cat's feelings, not yours - everything OK?

Was out at a critical design review yesterday - got home very late.

Spring is in the air: I have just planted (in the greenhouse) my Onion sets and I notice that my Robin friend "Squeaky" has got herself a boyfriend.

Re: 2025 The Smile for Today
Mabel, that's lovely.
I got quite worried over the weekend for a little Robin in our garden. I was on a rescue mission, but not a dramatic one. I love Daisies, we only have very few in our garden, and lots are in mortal danger nearby unless rescued.
There is a roundabout near us that's got a magnificent crop of Daisies, and the grass patch where they are is due to be destroyed in the re-alignment of roads when roadworks start soon. So, wearing a high vis jacket and holding a clipboard to show everyone I had every right to do what I was doing, I dug up 10 small clumps to move to our garden - it's 10 minutes walk away so I didn't want the number to be excessive. Had I been able, I'd have had them all, but that's not practical.
Once at home, I started to plant the Daisies in our lawn, and this is where the Robin came in looking for worms. A couple of times as I was kneeling and leaning forwards, the Robin was actually underneath my chest bouncing around inspecting the dug up clods from all sides and getting two worms. Must admit I was worried I'd accidentally hurt the cheeky little thing.
When the Roundabout is finished (in a year or two), we'll move the same number back & hope to have some extras ourselves if they've self-seeded as we want them to. We'll have to remember to mow the area quite short on a regular basis, Daisies seem to prefer to bake in direct sun with short grass, so we'll try to give them those conditions.
Regards,
Richard
