Xmas Biscornu(s?)

Post by Dazbo666 »

Well just to pass a little time during my recent trip, I managed to get about three quarters of the way thru a small "blackwork" project...
I chose the blackwork rather than cross stitch because it's easier to work this type of project without having to refer too often to a chart.

Anyway I've decided to stitch a pair of festively coloured biscornus... one panel each of red stitching on green aida, and ane panel each of green stitching on red aida... (and white stitching for the seam).
The pics really don't do justice to the vibrant colours, but you get the idea

Image

After taking this photo, I actually finished all the panels and started stitching the 1st biscornu. I'll take another pic when at least one of them has been completed

These are beautiful, Daz, very festive.

Big coincidence as well - I just made a mini biscornu for my Mum for Christmas - using some of the red and green fabric you sent me!! I did one side red with white stitching and the other side green with silver/gtey stitching. I did a thread entitled Xmas Gift for Mum-Biscornu or something like that.

Yes I've seen your project, and commented on the coincidence.
I've actually been considering sending these to my mum as well (because the original project I had in mind would never be finished in time).

Well I thought the pattern was appropriate because it looks a little like snow flakes.
Plus, my mum usually decorates her home with red green and gold - although she also knows that I'm quite patriotic (and I've had some frustrating experiences with gold metallic) so I went with red green and white

Just for the record, I managed a belated finish to this pair of biscornus only yesterday morning... so possibly the earliest Xmas project for Christmas 2009 ??!

I've taken a photo showing the finished project, but predictably forgot to bring the USB connector for the camera. I'll upload the finished pic asap

Nope, never too early to start finishing the christmas projects. I just finished one last week that was supposed to bea 2008 present, but since I haven't gotten together with that person, it will probably go to them for Christmas 2009. One present out of the way!

Finally, the finished items - red stitching on green aida, and green stitching on red aida... one panel of each colour on each bircornu, stitched together with the white seam
