Copyright Confusion

I'm new to this site and forum but I've been reading the posts in the WANTED section with some interest. With the sensitive subject of Copyright why is there a Wanted section on the forums at all ? I would think this encourages people to think they can post their requests for charts, only to have 'tellings off' that they would be breaking Copyright Laws.....

It seems a shame only Chatterboxes can post in the Buy/Sell forum as I would think this is more aligned for people looking for kits/charts ?

Hi Ms Wexford and welcome to the forum!

Don't worry, we do share your concern about copyright! The Wanted section is often used not to ask for copies of charts (which as you quite rightly point out is illegal) but either for information on where to find a particular chart (questions like "I once had a chart with a unicorn staring at a princess caught in an icicle but I can't remember who it was by, doesn anyone know?"), or a certain type of chart ("I am looking for a chihuahua chart, does anyone know of a good place to buy one?"), or to see if someone is willing to lend their own chart (which is perfectly legal as long as no copies are made).

And as to what happens in the Buy/Sell forum - well you'll just have to join in with our friendly little group and become a chatterbox too, before you can find that out

yes we are very certain, and the mods are quick to jump on it, that no one asks for a copy of any chart. Usually people are requesting as to where they may find the chart to purchase it or if anyone has it and are willing to pass the original chart on..

we are group that actually sticks to the rules and that's why this forum is the best

i'm sure if you read through many in those sections, you'll see everything is legit..if it concerns you.

Great information girls.

We are trying to help others find charts and/or kits, not to lambast those for asking for copies. Plus it is a good way to educate those that do not understand copyright rules and regulations. We try very hard to helpfully explain what can and can not be done when asking for chart help.
