Just wondered if anybody had been to Hobbycraft recently?? I'm gonna get hubby to take me there hopefully this week, but I wondered, are they selling dmc threads yet? I don't know if all the Hobbycraft shops are the same around the country, but the shop in Glasgow didn't have dmc last time I was there.. disappointed i was

i went last week (spent £150.... cough ... ) though some will be for hubby too!
the one by me has sold dmc for as long as i've been going (bout 5 years), i've found they actually seem to have a much bigger display of DMC than they do of anchor!
The one in Leeds sells Dmc - though you can buy much cheaper on-line - They do mail order too.

Gail I don't have a hobbycraft anwhere near me so I get them from one of these, even adding on postage it's so much cheaper
Scroll down and you will see some where you can choose your own colours and buy them in 10, 20, 30, etc http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... Categories" target="_blank
Northampton Hobbycraft had a huge amount of DMC, including the larger skeins for 99p and some silks as well. Boy, was it hard just getting what I needed and then out of there. (I went in to quickly get more thread for my Serendipity sampler.)

I normally buy all my stitchy stuff online because, sadly, it is a lot cheaper than the shops..only wondered what Hobbycraft had as I hope to go and maybe buy something if I see anything I like that is lol...just thought I could pick up a couple off the threads also that I need, even if I am paying a lot dearer for them...thanks to all that answered me post xx

The one in Sheffield does, and the one in Crayford does too. (I have friends in Sheffield and in-laws near Crayford and my dearly beloved rolls his eyes and sighs whenever we go to visit because he knows I'm going to make him take me to Hobbycraft!) I'm really surprised that your local one doesn't, Gail!

That's why I love going to Hobbycraft! The one in Crayford is two floors...the biggest LNS I've found in Leicester is the size of my lounge. It slightly took my breath away the first time I went in there! I don't often buy threads there, as they are so much cheaper online, but to have the opportunity to look at (for example) different types of hoops, and Framecraft things, is great fun and gives a better feel of what they're really like and whether I'd really get on with them!

I must admit to finding Hobbycraft a little disappointing (I went to the Coventry one); relatively little stitching stuff, most of the fabrics packaged up so you couldn't have a good look at them, and not a really big selection of fabrics anyway -- I realise they are a sort of common denominator and they're not the place to carry specialist threads or fabrics, but even so I found the range rather limited; perhaps ours is just not very good at stitching things . I did like the books and leaflets, and the little framecraft things -- nice to be able to have a look at them!

It's been 2 years since I was last there, so it's possible they do have DMC threads now, but they definately didnt then cos I asked!! lol xx

We had a hobbycraft in our local town but it occupied space in a woolworths store thus closed at xmas when our woolworths closed. They sold threads but I cant remember if itwas dmc or anchor or both.
I regret to report that I found out too late they were selling everything at 50% off
by the time I did know, they had hardly anything left and the gift vouchers I received for xmas had to be refunded.
Current projects : Tigger bookmark, Pooh xmas coaster
WIP: I dont do mornings cat kit, wedding sampler xmas santa
Planned projects, tatty ted birth sampler, tigger eating honey and going yuk! xmas tigger coaster, snail birthday card.
