Alphabet Afghan- Fineshed

Post by maggs »

I have got so inspired by reading about everyones projects, I thought I would share one of my many projects I have on the go. It is an alphabet afghan I am stiching for our first grandchild. Esther was born in December and I had hoped to have it nearly completed by now, but fates conspired agianst me. Since joining the forum you have really inspired me to get back to work and push it along.

There are 30 squares to complete in all and I have fully completed 4 and part completed 4 (these last ones since joining you ladies) and I hope you will provided the support and enthusiasm to finish it. As it is a surprise I can not stich when we see Esther so I will be stiching charity cards.

I will post pictures later, good at stiching rubbish at picture downloading.

The pattern was in Cross Stich Gold, it was covered in two magazines.

Thanks for all your encouragement

What a beautiful project! I agree, your stitching looks better than the magazine and I think you're doing a great job!

It's a gorgeous alphabet, and it's so neatly stitched! How do you find stitching on afghan fabric? I've got one in my stash with a flower alphabet to go on it, and I've rad it's rather different to work on from ordinary evenweave, I'd be very interested to hear your experiences/thoughts

Hi Mabel I was worried also but my instructions said to get some stich and tear or interfaceing and tack it to the afghan squares which gives it more stability when working. When fineshed the squares just take it off.

I ordered a big piece of stick and tear and instead of cutting it to fit indivual squares I tacked it to the whole afghan.

This works for me as it keeps all the stiches the same.
