changing fabric sizes..? about beads

Post by coffee_freak »

so if the fabric called for is either 28ct over 2 or 14ct over one, and I decided to do it on 18ct, would the beads still be ok? like not too big?

because in my head..i think it would be ok..
14ct the stitches would be bigger than 18ct and it says you can use 14ct..

i just can't afford any of the 28ct and I don't want 14ct so I ordered this:

for the spring fairy of joan elliot's series..

I think if you change the size of the beads it will work, I read an article by joan elliot that mentions it

EDIT: checked the mag, doesn't say anything about different sized fabrics, but I am sure I read somewhere about changing the size bead for different sized fabrics

yeah i was thinking cause it says you can use 14ct aida, but doesn't mention changing the bead used..so if i use 18ct which is smaller i'm thinking the bead may be too big :thinks:

I think if you use a smaller bead, you'll be alright, I can't remember how sizing goes, but I think if you got a size 12 instead of a 10 or 11, you might have better luck

I saw an article in one of my magazines a few months ago and I'm sure it said if you think the beads will be too big or too small after changing fabric then change the size of the beads with it.

seed beads size 11/0 (the ordinary Mill Hill ones) work well on 14/28ct and are OK on 16/32ct, though it gets a little crowded if there are a lot close together. On 18/36ct I would use petite seed beads, which are size 15/0. They are perfect for that count.
