fabric calculation - going nuts

Post by *barb* »

I want to do a pattern on 14 count aida

The stitch height is 70 stitches and the width is 100 stitches.

Now, I have used a few on line calculatirs and each has given me varying answers and I am confused.

The pattern doesn't have the fabric size because I am lifting part of a pattern out to do that, I am not doing the whole thing.

70 stitches = 5 inches, 100 stitches = 7.14 inches.
In metric, that's about 12.7 cm x 18.1 cm.

That's just the actual pattern size, it doesn't leave any extra for framing :)

Plans:
Twinkle twinkle cushion for nephew's third birthday (September 2015)
Man U crests for husband and brother-in-law

Just for future reference, you simply divide the number of stitches by the fabric count of your chosen material.

So in your case it would be 70 divided by 14 for the height in inches ... then 100 divided by 14 for the width in inches
Of course, as mentioned previously this does not include any border or extra material.
