Country Cross Stitch Kits has Cross Stitch Count Rulers (please see links below). Just print them off, cut them out and stick on to some card or laminated them. Than if your unsure off any fabric count hopefully this will help you.

i saw this in cross stitch magazine and did it today. I am going to print them off and see what it is like, but, without sounding dumb..exactly what are they used for, apart from counting stitches I mean which I do by myself anyway.

I assume you use them to determine the count of the fabric, I can't tell at a glance what is 16 or 18 count and sometimes it's a faff to find a ruler and start counting!

ah okay. makes sense. i can tell though.

14 = yup I can see it

16 = I can see it but my nose is on the fabric

18 = i cant see it and my nose has made a hole in the fabric
