Greetings from SCOTLAND

Post by agi »

Hi, everyone,

I am in London and enjoying it a lot.
The weather has been great so far, it only rained at night and while I was in the cinema. :)

I walked a lot around my favourite places yesterday, took a boat to Greenwich where it was even sunny, had fish and chips, and in the evening went to see Harry Potter. Wanted to see it at home but there was no time.

Today I am going to Kensington and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and I have a ticket for The Mousetrap for tonight   (Have I mentioned I love Agatha Christie? )

I have a bit of a pain in my back from all the work I had done before leaving and from the heavy suitcase. :x I hope it will get better. Also, I am very tired, it would have been better to come fully rested, but this is what I got :D So I decided to take it easy, not rush from one place to another so that I could see as many sights as possible in one day, but do only what I really feel like. I have to leave a few things for my next trip, don`t I? Didn`t even get up early in the morning  :P

Tomorrow I am off to York, where I am meeting Midge.

I don`t have time to look through all the posts now, I am in a cafe, but will try to catch up next week while in Dunfermline. Can`t promise full coverage, though. :P
So forgive me if I don`t take part in the conversations as much as I usually do.

Cheers (something I have just learnt  )

Oh Agi, you're right in my home town  !! I hope you're loving it.
My Dad was from Greenwich and I lived round that area (Eltham and Woolwich) and spent alot of time there as well ... Plus I worked in central London.

If I still lived at home I could have met up with you.

Anyhow, have a wonderful time with Midge won't you. :applesauce: :applesauce:

I'm just about to set off to York.
It's tipping down with rain at the moment. I'm very excited, I've only dozed all night long and when I woke up properly, I had a big smile on my face.
I've found two lns to check out for inspiration and to hide from the rain in.

I have just got in (and dried out) from a fantastic morning with Agi. She is a truly lovely lady who I feel priviliged to have met.
We met at 9 am in York and because it was raining decided to go and have a cup of coffee. Agi gave me a beautiful bag that she had made me with guess what on the front - yes, a peacock in a Hungarian folk style. It is stunning and I will take a photo to show you later. She had also brought me some paprika to make authentic Goulash and some of the world famous Hungarian marzipan sweets. Agi also sent some Hungarian chocolate for the children, I told you she is a real sweetheart! I gave her a couple of things that I had brought for her and showed her my phoenix and castles projects.
Agi wanted a photo so I duly posed (shocking pic  ) and then a lovely lady took a pic of the pair of us.
We then went off for a wander around York. It was throwing it down and we ended up like a pair of drowned rats.
We did go to the Viking Loom and bought a couple of bits and bobs. The shop was full of all kinds of yummy stuff and loads of threads and silks. We saw some special Boucle silk that we said we would have to ask "Auntie Mabel" about. It was very fine but sort of lumpy but in gorgeous soft shades.
At about 12ish, Agi walked me back to the car and she went off to do some more sightseeing.
I have to say that Agi has a fantastic command of the English language and conversation didn't dry up at all. I'll let her tell you of all her other adventures when she finally gets home.
I hope that Agi enjoyed the time we spent together as much as I did.
