Can any1 tell me is tent stitch the same as a half cross stitch?

Yes, but if you are planning to use it for a HAED you should use continental tent stitch instead (confusingly shortened to tent stitch on a lot of our discussions :oops: ). This stitch goes the long way round at the back and makes the fabric more stable as ordinary tent stitch tends to warp it. There are links here to show how it is done, I've found one here.

i am using the continental stitch but i'm still having a significant warping issue!

i saw a neat idea somewhere on this forum where they do the continental stitch one way across and then the tent stitch the other way across on the next line. or something like that!
