The Warmth of Home HAED**Updated 5 Nov**

Post by kelixander »

I spent a few day's checking out all the HAED design's, but as soon as I saw this one by Shim Schimmel I knew it was the one

I've sorted all of my thread's and gridded my fabric for the first time and am now ready to start :cloud9: It measures 14w x 9 1/4h ins (81,550 stitches)

After doing several different tests I have decided that I am going to stitch it on 25 count Lugana, 1x1 full x stitch.

This is what it will look like this when it is completed.

I will post my first update picture in the next few days.

I'll look forward to watching this one. I'm new to this board but I do believe there is a bench I can sit on and watch. I bet it looks amazing when it's all finished.

I like the Schim Schimmel designs, I might do one of those next. Not even finished gridding for my first HAED yet and I'm already thinking about my next project. I think I've caught the HAED bug.

Thanks for all the comments but i've decided that I don't like the coverage on this after all, even tho I did several tests on different fabrics and different stitches. I've been back to Hobbycraft to get different counts with no luck, so i'm gonna have to order some online and hope it arrives soon.

At least I only did about 400 stitches, could have been worse.

what a shame -- but as you say, better to decide this when you haven't done too much yet! Good luck finding the perfect fabric :x:

Yes sometimes it takes awhile to figure out which fabric and coverage you really like and better to learn it early on before you've stitched too much! I hope you find the right fabric you like and will look forward to seeing this once you do! :D

Well i've finally made a start, 700 stitches and i've already used over 40 colours.

I finally decided to use 22 ct 2x1 full cross stitch

Here's what it looks like so far
