How many yellows are there?
If there are 5, pick 5 burgundies in equivalent tones ie. 1 v.dark, 1 v. light, 1 medium tone and 2 that tone in.
Does that help?

yup, makes sense. I am not sure how many yellows. I want to make a sampler for my friends wedding. I have looked at numerous ones and asked her mum. I dont want to do something she wouldn;'t like. I found a few but they are either teddy bear/mice cutsie things or others that seem a bit too traditional.

I stumbled across this one today on ebay and decided to ask my friend. She thinks it's pretty but thinks the yellow is old lady look and suggested burgundy.,

I think leave the flowers yellow and do the ribbon and border burgundy. We are still discussing it.

Yes, as Midge says find out how many yellows there are and then choose an equal number of burgundies.

You may want to have a look at the colours they originally listed, to see how much "space" there is between the different yellows, if that makes sense -- I mean are they for example five yellows that are very close together, perhaps even difficult to tell apart (which would make for very subtle shading), or are the shades easy to distinguish (which would have a bolder effect)? Then try to duplicate that effect in your shades of burgundy.
