How to downsize a pattern

HI everyone! I have a tatty teddy pattern image ( jpeg ) that i need to downsize to fit a towel for our oncoming baby ... the picture has around 70 stitches high and the towel has only 35 high... how can i downsize it? please help...

the only way to downsize a pattern is to work it on a smaller count fabric..good luck!

The problem is that i cant change the fabric cos its a towel for a baby with the fabric already there.... :(

You'll have to choose a different pattern then, that will fit your fabric...

I had to do that for a bookmark for my mum. If you have graph paper (or a computer program that can give you squared paper) you can re draw the outline and cut off a few squares here and there to make it shorter, and a few to make it thinner.

Without my brain waking up, your fabric is half the size of the pattern? You could always take a block of four and stitch it as one.

If you'd like to send it to me, I can have a go at making it smaller for you? But I really do suggest a different piece of fabric.

It will have less detail than the origional image, as happens when things get smaller, but it should be pretty straight forwards. I shall let you know when I see it.

I hope this isn't against copywrite as I won't be keeping the chart. I shall be deleting it after I've finished editing it.
