I need to try to get an oil type stain out of my x-stitch!!
I have a finished mermaid and baby design that took me far too long!! the porblem is somehow where it had been stored it got this oily looking stain on a blank part of the aida. Does anyone have any idea how to get this out or do you think I might have to cut around he design and stitch it onto something else?

Depending on what type of oil stain you are talking about hand oil, machine oil, or car oil???? I have sometimes been able to get oil stains out by hand washing with Dawn dish soap directely on to the stain and rinsing in warm water. Also cola is suppose to get out oil stains but not sure how that works.

Try white wizard paste. It's wonderful for all stains.

I would imagine it is an edible oil although it was stored in a box something must have been resting on it while I was moving house. I will try the dawn soap, do I scrub it or just let it soak?
thanks again!!

Well just give it a nice hand wash rub the fabric a bit and let it soak for a few minutes in the mild water. Then rinse well and let it dry.

I was also thinking Dawn dish soap, and if that doesn't work, my sister loves the baby laundry detergent Dreft for getting out stains. I am a fan of a strong solution of Oxy Clean

If you haven't been able to get the oil stain out yet, I have a suggestion.
I had a towel once to get a dark ugly black greasy oil stain on it.
My mother told me Pine Oil would get it out and it did.
You can buy it at the grocery store, or you used to be able to.
It is not Pine "SOL"......It is "Pine Oil", I'm not sure what they use it for, cleaning, I guess, as I think it is located with the cleaning items.
But Dawn dish soap should work, too, but if it doesn't try the Pine Oil product, if you can find it.
