Roses Runner - Finished!!

Post by SusanF »

I started one of my birthday presents a few weeks ago and have been meaning to upload some photos ever since, so I hope you don't mind a catch up post with lots of photos :D It's a mixed cross stitch and hardanger project and here's how it's meant to look:

Image

I've still got a long way to go, but for me it's been stitching up pretty quickly. I started out with the border:

Image

and have now completed half of the cross stitching (still have to do the same again upside down :? ):

Image

I started working this week on the blanket stitch along the outside edge, but I'm finding it soooo difficult. Trying to see what I'm doing white on white is giving me headaches and I feel really tensed up each time I stop. I'll be glad when this bit is complete. I don't know how on earth I'll have the nerve to cut around this at the end as I'm sure it'll all just fall apart

Beautiful already, and with the Hardanger open bits it'll look so delicate! Which colours are you using? They look a bit like the DMC 225/224/223/221 series

Have more faith in yourself Susan! You haven't let hardinger get the best of you yet! I've never tried it, so I can't say it's tough. But you certainly have been managing it well :D

This is absolutely gorgeous, Susan and your stitches are so beautifully neat. One of these days I will try hardangar myself - I keep meaning to, although it will be a small basic thing like a bookmark, I should think. :)

Permin do good designs, don't they? Is that a sort of buttonhole stitch you are doing around the outside? And I like the pink 'towers'. Reminds me of Schwalm. Great stuff! And you can do it! The hard part of this is placing the cross stitch, I suspect. Just count. And count. And count again!
