Midge's Great Wall of China - updated 13/04/11

Post by Midge »

Last December (2008) Steve and I went to China on business. Whilst we were there, we went to the Great Wall and has a fabulous time. I decided that I would try and find a pattern to do that captured our experience.
I found quite a few that I didn't like and then found this one on Artecy's website.
http://www.artecy.com/lgreatwall.jpg" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank"
It is kitted up and ready to go in the new year. It is 300x 188 stitches and contains 55 colours. It will measure 21 1/2 by 13 1/2 inches when it is complete.

Good heavens Midge, that's a project and a half!! It's fabulous but not exactly a 'quick-stitch', perhaps it should be an honourary HAED!!

Good for you! I shall enjoy watching this develop. :D

Great project and a lot of work ahead. I look forward to watching this one.

I visited China in 1985 and was fascinated by the Great Wall and other historical spots that I had only read about.

I was into needlepoint at the time, before I switched to cross stitch, and everywhere I went, I looked for a pattern or canvas to purchase. Funny thing was, they had none -- only completed tapesties for sale. No-one could understand that I wanted to stitch it myself! Because I wanted the souvenir, I ended up buying a completed needlepoint (15" by 24") of a pagoda reflected in a pond. It cost me all of $12 . . . . !!
