Bothy Threads Animal Alphabet: FINISHED! Jan. 30th

Post by silviaciuchi »

So, my Bothy Threads Animal Alphabet was becoming an UFO and I decided to start the New Year by finishing it, before my kids start reading on their own, LOL.
This is how I left it last summer:

And this is how it looks after 5 days of stitching:

As you can see I added a lot of elements, expanding the letters and starting some backstitch. Some of you may find this way of working a bit weird, but I prefer to work "at large" instead of concentrating on one area at a time, because if I have a clear vision of the whole stitch I see myself closer to the finish line.
I'm having so much fun working on this, I can't believe I had almost abandoned it!

I think it is a great way to stitch if it will keep you interested in the project. That is another reason I love cross stitch it gives you the choices to do things your own way. :applesauce: :D

I left this project for another one (Lilipoints Le Cafè), then I rotated and came back to it again. Here it is now:
Image

I managed to start all the letters now and also began adding backstitches and lettering, because I fear I would get bored adding it all at the end. Plus, I find backstitching so stimulating as it literally brings these creatures to life: here's a close-up on the giraffe, so far the only block I've completed (sorry for the crappy shadow):

Image

Now I'll concentrate on finishing one animal a day, so I'll be able to finish this project in about 20-30 days, I hope
