Kids starter charts

Post by Charmed »

My 8 year old son wants to try cross stitch! but rather than buy him an expensive starter kit I know he'll never finish I brought some 6 ct aida. I've been looking all over the internet for freebie basic chart suitable for an 8yo boy to do on 6ct?? does anyone have any idea where I could find something suitable?
many many thanks

I might have a few simple charts from magazines - I'll have a look and see if I have anything that might suit a boy and get back to you...

Here we go. Would any of these be suitable? I'd be more than hapy to pop them in the post to you. :) (Sorry the pics aren't very clear - I took them with my phone).

They're all just small, simple designs that I think would be suitable for an 8-y-o boy and would be fun to stitch. :)

Ohhh thanks!! :) I had considered using a chart out of a magazine but then I wondered about the size on the 6 ct?! wouldn't it come out huge? I don't suppose anyone knows how to work it out?

Thanks Rose the balloon is fab I shall show my son and see if he wants to give it a go! :)

I think the monster mat one is actually for stitching on a lower count fabric anyway and all the designs I posted are very small ones (i.e. they'd be great for cards on 14-count and higher), so they shouldn't turn out too big. Send me your contact details and I'll pop them in the post to you. I'm heading to the post office tomorrow, so it's no bother. :)

I did a smaller balloon one as well, and there's the ice cream one I used for my first stitching class which also uses half crosses and backstitch -- if you'd like either of those do pm me and I'll send them. The ice cream would get rather big on 6ct, but the balloon should work!
