Hello from frosty MN

Post by MaggieM1750 »

Hello everyone.. I have been here for a while now, not sure what took me so long to write a bit about myself. I finally added a photo of myself, and found an image for my avatar.. its of the Alnwick Rose.

I am 32, single- no kids, no pets, living in glorious (and currently frozen) Minneapolis Minnesota. The state which has brought you Target, Betty Crocker, Spam, Best Buy, Post-It notes, Rollerblades, water skiing and Honeycrisp apples. I have lived here my whole life.. except during the college years, and the summers I spent travelling in England and Australia during college.

I currently work as a sales assistant for a medical equipment supplier.. my uncle owns the company, and my father is one of the sales people. Needless to say, I am very close with my family; I see them on an almost daily basis. I also live with my older sister.

My mother taught me how to stitch when I was young, maybe 10 or 12. There are a few of her projects hanging in the house, but I think more of my stuff is on her walls now. She does not stitch any more, she thinks the process is too slow and cannot see how I find it to be relaxing.

So far, I have been a kit girl. But I am slowly getting up the courage to try bigger and more complicated designs. My next project is to try my hand at crewel work.. I have been dragging my feet for far too long now, I just need to do it.

I visit this site most often during the day.. when I should be working. When I am home, I would rather be stitching than perusing through a website on stitching.. which unfortunately means that the web filter blocks most photo sites.. so I cannot appreciate much of what is in the Stitch A Long section.

When I am not stitching, I am an avid movie watcher and a season ticket holder for one of the live theaters in town. I also like to bake, read, play outside.. even in the winter. I have recently gotten into audio books, so I listen along while stitching.

Happy stitching everyone!

Avoiding slipping on the ice is a great reason to stay inside, curl up and stitch all day.. I would if I could. Snow is good... Ice is bad

Ahh yes, that wonderfully fantastic MOA.. I was just there a few weeks ago actually. Our company held their holiday party at the comedy club. I live on the North West side of the city, the MOA is on the South East side so I don't go there very often.. now its usually only when people are in from out of town.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome

Hello and welcome! I've recently gotten into listening to audio books while I'm stitching also. It definitely helps drown out the children's shows that are usually on. :D

Hi and welcome from Melbourne Australia where it is currently warming up after another cold couple of days. A weird summer, hot and cold alternating every few days.
