Not new to cross stitch, but new to the forum

Post by clockwork »

Hello, everyone. I've been a cross-stitcher for a few years now and felt it was time to finally introduce myself here. I taught myself to cross stitch in September of 2006 shortly after I started college. Since then it has overtaken all my other hobbies and become my favorite.

For a little over a year now I've been teaching cross-stitching to children in my area. It started with sewing lessons I was giving at a small local fabric store and grew from there. I still give sewing lessons but the cross stitching lessons are the ones I enjoy the most. One of my favorite things about cross stitching now is how I can share it with others and hopefully end up with a new generation that enjoys the hobby as much as I do. There's nothing quite like teaching.

I hope that I can overcome my shyness when it comes to talking in a forum environment and maybe share some of my work with you. I think it might be nice to talk about cross stitching with people who are over the age of 12. Hopefully I can manage to do more than just lurk.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I doubt if you'll feel shy about posting here once you get started and see how friendly everyone is! That's great that you're teaching children to cross stitch. I have wonderful memories of my mom teaching my sister and me to do embroidery when we were around 7 or 8, and of my aunt trying to teach me to knit at age 11. Finally had to teach myself that, though. I look forward to seeing your cross stitch projects. :D

I put up my gallery. There's a few presents missing that I never took pictures of, but most of the stuff I've made is there.

Welcome! No need to be shy here, but just comfortable. :D

Your gallery is wonderful, I especially like the cardinals, and the three frogs... Some of your completed designs will be inspirational for members here working on the same piece.

Welcome to the forum :D
Frederick was a fun project. The colors are a lot more vibrant than the picture in my gallery suggests. I took that picture a few times since I stitched him, and I've never been able to show the colors the way they really are.

I loved doing the frogs! They were so bright and simple. And I like tree frogs so that helped too. They are so pretty and poisonous.

I'm working on a Dimensions kit called Floral Retreat. I love garden scenes. This one isn't quite as bright as I would like, but it's definitely pretty. This is my progress since near the beginning of February.
