Firstly – this is not MY château, as the name implies!! It's in Neuvicq-le Château, where we live and also our town hall and occasional post office!!
I started this late 1908 – okay, it was 2008, but it feels that long. Having had problems with some of the colours in the sky it was put aside and forgotten about while I did my rather more colourful Window design. I still haven't fully decided what do do about the blues in the top right corner or the bit on the left (above the tree) but have continued on with the Château, itself and will leave the problem bits to the end.
There is more confetti in this than was chucked at Mark and I on our wedding day – so PLEASE poke me with as many needles as possible to get me to finish it.
There are less than four quarter pages to go (just about two inches down the right hand side and the bottom bit) but it's so slow and fiddly to do that it unfortunately feels more like a chore sometimes, than a pleasure to do.

Ali I laughed so much at reading your introduction to the castle and I really needed a good laugh today, so, thank you. The picture is amazing and I think it's a great idea to stitch something "local": did you make this pattern out of a photo?
I know how tricky it is to stitch confetti stitches, but it's definitely worth when you look at the final result, plus, you're so close to the end that it shouldn't take that much to complete your masterpiece, please keep on stitching this, I'll watch out for updates!

Still haven't looked at it today, at all. It's terrible - I feel as if I need to build up more energy to tackle it.
This is the sky (on the left) that's part of the problem. I frogged the area twice now as I'm not happy with the colours suggested from the PC programme (much too purple which stuck out like ... well .... a big purple bit in the sky!!) and my own first attempt was too dark. Third time lucky!!
I took the photo from the internet - the best one I could find of our Chateau and played around with the programme for a while. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I really haven't enjoyed being back with this one again, although I do think I know why now. Having just finished the window design where everything was so bright I lifted the first thread I needed for this – and it was DMC 612 ... described as 'drab brown - lt'. I think that says it all.
But with the threat of being poked with numerous needles I have now finished the last full page and only have to do the final 3 pages which are only 20 stitches wide. I have also decided to tackle the sky problem next as it feels like a weight around my neck and it would definitely help my attitude towards this.

Just take a step back from it & look at your latest update photo of this, it's beautiful!!!!
As for the little bits in the sky, not sure if I or someone else has suggested this already but have you thought about maybe using a blend of what the program called for plus a lighter blue?
