Looking For A very Specific Lap Stand

Post by Deeve »

Hi! I'm new to the forum. Hope I'm posting this in the right place, and I hope it hasn't been asked a squillion times (I did do a search).
I had a lap stand that I just adored. A couple of years ago, we moved, and long story short, Hubby was reponsible for the last load of "to be carried by hand" stuff. Somehow my stand, which was in that last load (and which had about 1 year's worth of a project on it), never made it to our new home. I have searched all over the internet at various times and have never come across another stand like this one. I was hoping I could describe it in detail and maybe one of you might recognize it.

Here goes:

I purchased it from The Stitchery around 5-6 years ago. It was a lap stand with scroll frame. It two important features that distinguished from other stands. First, it had a "shelf" so that the stand sat ON the lap, rather than over it. The lap featured three felt lined circles for holding floss, etc. It also had a small rectangular magnet lined area for holding needles. The other distinguishing feature was a fluorescent light mounted on the stand that ran across the length of the frame.
The Stitchery hasn’t carried this item in several years, and I can’t find it anywhere else. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Sorry it does not sound familiar to me. :(

How long did hubby sleep in the doghouse after that gaffe. I think mine would still be saying sorry. And cooking dinner if he did that to me. :x

Oh, he's still getting reminded of it on many occasions.

Surpsingly, I got over the loss of the in-progress project much faster than I have the loss of the stand. I haven't stitched at all in almost three years, mostly because I haven't been able to replace the stand. I still have my older stands, but I really got attached to this particular one. Many of the projects on my "to do" list call for black fabric. I found the design of the light on this stand to be superior to anything else I've tried because when flipped around to illumniate from underneath, it provided even lighting across the entire desigh rather than a "spotlight" effect. I have looked for individual pieces -- the light, and a stand I could attach it to -- to try and "recreate" this particular combination, but no luck.

It was such a cool set-up and the Stitchery carried it on and off for years. I can't believe that it has disappeared from existence, but I sure haven't seen even a photograph of it on the internet.

Mide & Lisa, thank you very much! The stand isn't any of those, but I had not seen those pages before so I appreciate the new resources. Thanks!
