Hi
Hi. I'm Sam.
Not new to cross stitching, but I haven't done it in ages. I used to do some as a kid (roughly 10-15 years ago), mostly pre-packaged patterns. Kind of grew out of it, I guess. The last thing I cross stitched was about a year or so ago...back when our Wal-Mart had cross stitching materials...of the red mushroom from the Mario video games. Not quite sure where it is right now as I moved to a different place in December and most of my crafts are still in boxes as I don't have the space right now to put them out anywhere (living at home for the moment, only have a single small room to put everything in). It looked pretty neat. Planned on doing the other 'shrooms, but life got in the way and Wal-Mart stopped selling the embroidery materials.
Why I'm here? Well, a couple weeks ago I found one of my Legend of Zelda shirts (one I thought I had lost). Its a tan shirt with one of the screen shots from opening scene from the LOZ: The Wind Waker...the opening scene was a series of pictures that looked old, slightly faded block prints telling the story from LOZ: Ocarina of Time. Somehow I got it in my head that those 6 pictures from that opening scene would be great to craft into something I could hang on my wall and that cross stitching would be the best and coolest way to do it...don't ask me how I arrived to that conclusion 'cause I'm not so sure myself (I can tell you why I didn't choose other ways to go about it). So now I'm back into being interested in cross stitching. I tried doing some cross stitching research to help me design this particular project and kept finding beginner's stuff I already knew (did find some other Zelda related cross stitching works, though...not what I'm trying to do, but still just as awesome and complicated). So I guess I'm here to seek the collective wisdom of those who are better at this craft than I am so I can accomplish this project and maybe even future projects.
In case you haven't noticed, I love video games and have the occasional video game related craft project. Not sure if I'm the only one here who does.

Welcome from Australia. It sounds a novel way to get back into cross stitching and I wish you luck with the designing
