Progress as of 1/6/08:

sorry this has been a longer time coming, I have had a real time with this one. I thought the background would go quite smooth as it is all in half cross stitch and at first when I was doing the greens at the bottom I was right. However the tree branch to the right of the lady has driven me potty I have had to frog it more times than I can count, so I decided to put it to one side and start a small project of a butterfly for a breather but to my horror four hours into that one I realised I had gone wrong and had to frog the majority of that, Argh!!!! Having had a few days off to cool down (not easy in this beautiful weather!!!) I have decided to leave both for a week and work on a father's day card before coming back for the final push on my lady. the card will be an adaptation of a cartoon welder pic I found and will adjust into a chart (P.S. should have mentioned that my father is a welder!!!). Happy stitching!!!

(oops, the final piccy is on its side but is the branch that gave me so much trouble)

That looks great. I love watching this lady develope.

I think it is time to get the frying pan out and cook up some frogs legs. They seem to be breeding at your house. Ladies we need a frog intervention.

mmm frog legs..lol! (actually I've never had any but might be willing to try if it means :ribbit: will leave you alone)

Well it still looks lovely and sometimes it's best just to take a break when it doens't seem to want to go your way. I am sure you will be ready to finish after you finish your cards! :D

Wow, I didn't realise how long I had been off of here  , but unfortunately life got in the way, thankfully sewing has gotten me through :D , so I thought I'd post updates on this project. I am nearly finished and ready for the last big push, Here are some progress piccys from throughout the summer. I think I could finish it in about a week depending on how much uni work I have to do:

This is of all the cross and half cross stitch finished:

These are of the outlining almost done. It has been very complicated but gives a lovely effect. I have done most of the dress and the background, just the face and some cording to go!:

This really is looking fab. She's really progressed since I last saw her and the outlining always makes the design 'live' doesn't it?

I love how in your last post you posted an 'away' shot and a 'near' shot. The away one looks so much like a photograph, and then you look at the close up and you see all the stitches. Great job. :applesauce:  Stunning! :applesauce:
