What a lovely design  I have not seen these before, it reminds me a little of the Calico Crossroads designs, only more detailed. Looking forward to seeing some pictures :applesauce:

It is especially funy because I am doing this for my sister who is a pianist and has a black cat that loves to "play" the piano by walking across the keyboard. She is also a knitter, so the balls of yarn are a perfect touch. I showed the pattern to her husband and he just cracked up - said it must have been designed with her in mind!

OK, so I am FINALLY getting started on this one! Here is my progress so far:

Image

I am stitching this over 2 on 32 count linen. Advice needed - the pattern calls for white stitching over the entire background but I am thinking of just leaving the fabric showing. Do you think this will still look OK? I think it will since the fabric is such a fine count.

I am sure it will look great! No way would I stitch the entire background.

Great start! :applesauce: :applesauce:

:applesauce: great start. Just had a look at the finished design, If I were stitching this picture I would leave any background un stitched too and it I think it might make the stitched areas stand out more which would look good.

A lovely design and you have made a great start. I would leave the background unstitched.

As it's such a fine count fabric, I agree that it should look ok leaving the background unstitiched. But you can always change your mind once you've done the main design if it doesn'r look right. :)

With those colours i dont think i would do the background either. The colours will make the picture stand out and if you frame it with a matt etc i dont think you will miss the background stitching.Nice start by the way.

Such nice bright colours! And with such lovely fine fabric I think it would be a shame to cover it up!

Looks we're all in agreement... the white background isn't necessary... this design is really cute :)
