Okay so last night was not a good stitching night for me I kept miscounting stupid stupid stuff and then having to pull and restitch.

THEN :gurn: i realized that one of my letters is a whole row too low doesn't sound too bad until I realized I had based the other letters off that letter as well making the whole SWEE one row too low.

I did consider ripping it all out...but then I started thinking it has a swirly border...I think....think....I can fix it by just bumping up an extra row in the border. Hard to explain with out posting a pic of the pattern. A coworker who used to stitch thinks it will work too.

See this is why I grid!! :) I don't use it to count my stitches but I can tell if I'm in the right spot by hitting a grid mark. It more of a safety check for me.

Your solution sounds like it will work. One of the good things about borders is that its a bit easier to change things and still have it all work out. And yes, I too have discovered that gridding works as a good double check before I get to far in the wrong direction. Seems to me I used to count over and over and double check stitches against other stitches and still be off one or two squares or rows. Now if I count and a stitch doesn't land where it should in the grid I can figure out what was wrong so much easier.
I hope you didn't have to :ribbit: too much last night and that tonight any stitching you do will be right where its supposed to be.

I think that will work fine--sometimes you just have to fudge a wee bit and it oftentimes works out much better in the long run. I hope you get thru this without any further visits from :anotherfrog:

Oh my I will NEVER stitch again without gridding :)
LOL

Well I finally figured out exactly where to raise the pattern up one row without it being too noticeable I got to that spot stitched the "f" and then realized somehow it was 2 rows too high.

then started looking back and realized I had jumped a letter "a" and didn't realize it so I was back on track. and sorta

I then picked the stitches for the "f" and stayed where I was...then some how I added extra stitches to a letter but it is all looking okay I am just glad the pattern calls for uneven sized letters that aren't on a straight line @rotfl: @rotfl:

it gives it character and at this point has become quite comical.

I'm so glad that you have figured out what happened, made it work anyway and have a sense of humor about it. Without being able to laugh sometimes I would have to be locked up! Reminds me that even on the "smaller" things I do (don't have any now but I'm sure I will eventually) gridding can still save me from the dreaded :ribbit: . Hope you will post a pic soon of your progress. I would love to see how you fixed it.

Sorry to hear about Mr. :anotherfrog: visiting!

As for the scroll frame, mine was the same way with the split rail to put the fabric in. It drove me nuts. What I've done is hot glued the hook side of velcro onto the rods. When I start a project, I sew the eye (softer) side of the velcro onto my fabric. If I have to take a project off of one of my sets of rods (usually because I get a model in that needs that size), it's super easy to change back and forth.

 Love your nursery! Hope you don't have any more visits from :anotherfrog: . I always find that the "easy" looking designs always give me the most problems! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Okay so here goes a current update on Connor's Sweet child of mine.

PLEASE if you can totally tell where the mess ups are tell me so that I can fix now instead of having people point it out when it's framed and on the wall LOL
I love the design and did not realize how much changing colors on Starry night was slowing my stitching. I have been working on this one for about a week now.

It looked fine to me, so I went back and read where you said what the errors were and looked again. It still looks fine.

Honestly, I can't see any mess ups. It just looks lovely :)

:applesauce: I think it looks great. I also looked at where you said you made the mistakes and the "a"s and "f" look fine. I couldn't tell a thing. The border is very pretty. (and fine for a boy). I am looking forward to your next update.

Your projects are great. About the mess ups - They don't exist! People wil only see what they see, not what was in your mind :) A little tip from a long time event co-ordinator. And when they admire your work - zip your lip and say thank-you. This is all said with a big smile and a knowing wink.

I don't see a mistake at all.. that's the beauty of stitching.. you probably will NEVER know unless you plan on hanging the pattern up right next to it

Okay, so I am about to order my stuff for my TOS, I think I am going to use plain white linen 28 count  my first time using linen and I am scared!!

I think I am going to leave the tree trunk brown and then, do more of a fall color scheme for the branches/leaves.

Do you all think I should do one color for each section- or should I use a DMC variation thread.
I was thinking something like 4126 desert canyon?
ohh or Weeks dye works autumn leaves??

Any suggestions. I am not great at decsion making when it comes to tweaking my own patterns..just ask Dwitt! :)
