Thanks. I should be completely finished with the stitching tonight or tomorrow. Then I get to hand it off to my mom who is going to get it framed onto the cover of a photo album. When she gets that done I'll have her send me the pic so I can share it with you all.

Both of those minis are from Cross Stitcher magazine. It's a Brit magazine. Even though they cost twice as much as the American magazines, the British magazines are what I buy most often. They tend to publish more designs in styles I like than the American ones I've seen. (That and I'm a wee bit of an anglophile.)

*squeal* I too am a non-British anglophile with a ginger cat :-)! Did you also happen to marry an English husband? My mother maintains that that was taking my anglophilia a bit too far...

Nope. I'm single. Though I have dated an English man in the past. I do have some English in my ancestry though - Lady Jane Grey was my great^n aunt. I'm a total mutt though. German, Irish, Scottish, English, Dutch, Hungarian, Romani Gypsy, French, Native American - Newport and Cherokee.

Dutch? How interesting -- I'm 100% Dutch, very boring :-) What's your connection?

My great grandfather (mom's mom's dad) claimed he was 100% Dutch, but he was was refusing to admit to the French in his bloodline. But he was mostly Dutch, we're not sure how far back the French was in his bloodline.

Finished the wedding sampler. The border was my own design as I didn't have the time for the provided one. But I think this one is more elegant and draws the focus to the main part rather than to the edges. I'll post a picture of it after my mom has it framed so you can see it. I'm not sure yet if she's going to have it mounted to the front of a photo album, or if she's just going to frame it normally.

My mom and step-dad recently moved and the finally finished unpacking so I was able to get a pic of the project I made for my step-dad back in '97. Gosh, I've come a long way.

:applesauce: The sampler is really elegant. I think the border you designed is perfect. Sometimes borders are so detailed and ornate that they do grab the viewer's attention instead of it being drawn to the main part of the piece.
:applesauce: what you made for your step-dad is adorable. I'm sure he has treasured it over the years.

Thanks. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The original border was actually 3 borders with the outermost one being the same flowers from the center of the design. It was a 16 stitch high border.

He really has. it makes me happy to see he still has it.
