Thats wonderful, I have had a look on the website as I dont live near a John Lewis but I couldnt fin them anywhere. I have found some lovely tapestry from these sites, Tapestry gifts, Group on, and Treasureknit.com, now I just have to choose which one I would like for the birthday!
Is this offer still on, or can I try another website for an offer please? I live in Ireland also, from Dublin!

Where did you purchase it from?
I actually got it as a Christmas present from my husband
(He thought it was a cross stitch kit )
I think he got it in John Lewis.

I have used this website before but they did take a while to deliver, so I probally wouldnt use them again.
Hi Susan, I have just been looking at your tapestry, it's lovely, so colourful! How is it coming along? I love tapestry too and am about to visit the shop above to see if I can add to my stash.
Happy Sewing!

So far enjoying it very much - but after stitching for 2-3 hours today my hands and wrists are so painful now, especially the right one. I guess it must be a much more pronounced stitching action ? ?
The kit is from Jolly Red and called Tree Of Life. Here's how far I got today:
Haven't done one of these yet...how did you like this project?
Completed projects:
Sweet Dreams by Me to You - Tatty Teddy
Emerald Mermaid by Nora Corbett
Hoot Owls - Baby Sleeps Here
Angel Proclamation by Nora Corbett
Mini HAED Rose By Rachel Anderson
So glad you are showing this! tapestry was my first needlepoint attempt. I made a bunch of them from the age of... six? I don't even remember! I eventually switched to cross stitching but still have very good memories about my first love
This project has a lot of fun color, love the design too! I will be looking forward for your next upgrade
Not knowing exactly where to put a color is what I didn't care for in needlepoint. I guess it is a kind of OCD or lack of confidence. That is a problem on the pillow covers you can stitch on the really large canvas with printed patterns. But I have done some of them also. It also happens in latch hook. I just have to get firm with myself and say "Pick a color and use it!" And it has always worked out. The tree of life is really pretty. It looks so defined that is will probably be fairly easy to do. I do like the look of the drawing.
Here's a little tip when stitching tapestries I have found over the years doing more than 30 tapestries, that it is better to start at the top of the tapestry and work to the bottom. The reason for this is when you are working down the tapestry your hand are moving over the bare canvas, if you work upwards or around you can get bobbling in the wool, a bit like on a jumper but not as bad! But it can be noticeable when you finish.
Your method of holding the frame with that stand might cause you problems as your completed stitched parts can be squashed when holding the frame.
When you finish it is always good to steam the tapestry, as this will relax the wool, then allow it to dry naturally, this will allow the stitches to even themselves out, which improves the tapestry when it is framed.
I hope I am not lecturing you, but I wish I'd known some of this when I first started in the 80's. But there was no internet then and I found out through trial and error.
If you need some inspiration have a look at my gallery at some of the tapestries I have completed.
Yes, it is harder work on the wrists and the arm doing tapestry compared to cross stitch, so I find it is better to do it in smaller bursts.
