Page 5 was complete as of 8:15 last night so I am still on track for a page per month.

More bat feet have appeared. Page 6 is a bit smaller but is mostly tree so will be a challenge with all those browns but I'm still looking forward to it.

Works4me, Do you mind my asking what you used to grid your piece with? It looks nice and thin! I played with fishing line and sulky silver thread and it was driving me nuts! I have never gridded before but I have some major HAED charts to begin and gridding will probably help.

Peepfaleep, I used a mechanical pencil 0.5 lead. Since it will be completely covered and I'll be gently washing the piece at the end, I'm not worrying about it. A previous project confirmed that the pencil will come out anyway, with the right cleaning solution. For the next 3 HAEDs, I ordered magic guide Aida 18 count from Sew and Sew in the UK.

Initially, I tried to sew a line with thread and hated it. I was afraid of using some of my quilting markers, fading or washable. No idea why but I was. So, pencil worked for me.

A good friend is about to start her first HAED and told me she has no intention of gridding as she counts and has never needed gridding in the past. I told her that HAEDs are a different beast and, even with the gridding, I make mistakes. She'll see what I mean soon enough.

I think I'll work on a couple of quilting projects this weekend and then on to page 6.

Page 6 is complete. That finishes the first row of pages.

Now I have the rest of August to work on other crafts, including a replacement etched glass candle holder for a customer. She was quite upset when she broke hers.



I actually enjoyed stitching the tree. What a difference encouragement and time make.

Congratulations on another page completed beautifully! You are making fantastic progress. I love the colors in this design. While I'm sure your customer will be happy to have her candle holder replaced, I'm sorry that I won't be seeing another update on this one for a while.
