Here is the project I was working on in that car - it's a Celtic cross inspired by the service sheet of the church we visit while in Llandrindod Wells (hence I've called it Llandrindod )

To begin with, thank you very much for sharing the story which is really interesting. I like the project, the threads you have chosen for it and your absolutely perfect stitching. Happy stitching, Mabel!
The linen I'm using for the Llandrindod cross is a surface embroidery fabric. It's got a count (40ct) but it's not really meant for counted work. But that doesn't mean you can't.... (after all, I'm sure the ladies who did the old-fashioned Hardanger in Norway centuries ago didn't distinguish between counted and non-counted fabric )

When I'd finished the little willow tree I wasn't quite happy with one of the branches - it had too much "flat" light brown in it. So I added a few medium brown stitches and am much happier with it now. I framed it using the card-circle-pushed-in-the-back-of-the-hoop method.
More about how the design developed on FoF.

Yes, the copyright holder is happy for me to do with it what I please as long as the embroidery is "not too identical" to the original logo (can you be a little bit identical?). As I used only one part of it, and changed what was an outline with plain straight lines for the hanging branches into what you see above, I think we can safely say it's not identical

Beautiful work! Love that my country gave you the inspiration and permission In turn you’re inspiring me with your use of the hoop to frame it, I really like that idea.
When I finished the teeny weeny Hardanger cross, Serinde asked whether I was going to turn it into a pendant. It's a little larger than anything I've turned into pendants before, but I suddenly remembered there were two larger pendants in a big box of stitching stuff someone had passed on to me because his mother could no longer stitch.
They've lost their perspex insert (if they ever had one) and they are not deep enough to fold the fabric around a card template, so I ironed dark grey vilene to the back, cut it exactly to size and fitted it under the bezel. The four "feet" of the bevel actually push the fabric in a little bit and make it a little convex, which looks rather nice !
