As it turns out there was a certain amount of queueing but not that much waiting around (we were at recordings for the Antiques Roadshow; nothing of ours made the cut, unfortunately ) so I only managed to do a few stitches. I finished the denim one at home, and the twill one will go with me as a travel project when we go to Chester for a few days.

Very pretty on that denim.
Just think, in years to come people will be queuing up with Mabel Originals at the Antiques Road Show!!! Bet those make it onto the TV
I agree completely!

Remember that little project I was going to take to Chester with me? Well, as is so often the case it came back home completely unstitched But as I didn't have enough time to work on my Certificate piece over the weekend, I worked on this little one. It's on twill fabric and used Madeira Lana, plus some very fine gold passing.
Another beauty! The same but totally different from the example on denim.
BTW I have to ask....what do you do with all these fantastic little samples? I know you stitch some for friends' cards etc, but you must have a drawer full of these little experimental samples!!

Mostly they do become just that, cards - some I keep as stitched models in case this ever becomes a workshop or something. And when I have a drawer full of cards, I sometimes sell them when we have a fundraising day for our church's building fund.
Managed a bit more work on Llandrindod - the golden yellow circle segments have been finished, and two of the gem centres have been satin stitched over the padding. DH looked at it and asked how the blue and the red were different from the green and purple. Eventually he did admit that the padded satin stitch looked different from just-the-padding

Started work on two commemorative baptism bookmarks for friends at church - the colours are chosen because for various reasons they are important to them.
Lovely start! I'm sure your friends will be delighted!

Very neat finish on these simple but effective bookmarks...just what we expect from "Our Mabel"
I imagine they will be treasured.
I'm sure they will be well loved!!!

As usual I was far too optimistic about the amount of stitching I'd be doing while on holiday - I even took two projects in case I finished one - but I did manage a bit of stitching on Llandrindod! Unfortunately I then had to unpick some of it as I'd worked the split stitch in the wrong direction...
I also found an interesting goldwork design, on the vestments of the priest when we went for Communion at the local church - I thought it was worked in couched Jap or twist and simply couldn't work out how it had been done to create the effect that it had. Turns out it wasn't couched thread at all, but appliquéd metallic fabric (You can read more about it on FoF)
