Last Friday (the 11th) I was on a 6a.m. flight to Atlanta transferring to a flight to Los Angeles where my sister was to pick me up at the airport and we were going to drive the 4hrs to Las Vegas. We had reservations and tickets to three shows. One Sat, one Sun, and the last one tonight. When I landed in Atlanta, I texted my daughter that I had landed and she texted me back and asked if I had heard about the fires in California. One of which was only 28 miles from LA in a section called Porter Ranch. Which is where my sister lives. A frantic call found her at a friends house where she had to quickly evacuate to early early Friday morning. She got out of the house with her purse and her dog. And she told me, the trip was off. The fire had come pretty close to her house. But they were safe and that is all that mattered. So I got my ticket changed for a flight back to Charleston, had a nice breakfast at the airport in Atlanta and returned home.
Fortunately, my sister's house was not damaged in the fires though several houses, wishing 4 to 12 blocks of hers were burned and there was plenty of charred grass and bushes she passed on her way home yesterday afternoon when the evacuation order for her area was lifted. This happened to her about 10 years ago also. The only emergency we were worried about when planning an October trip, was the possibility that a hurricane would be heading for me, especially when there were all those named storms in the Atlantic. I generally don't trust September or October for planning anything.
But it all turned out good and everyone is safe and that his what matters, though it is also very good that the house didn't burn down.
So drinks are on me and all the food you can eat too!!!! Good to be back even though I wasn't really gone anywhere
