Question on stitching onto baby clothes

Post by carolynbb »

I have a big pack of plain white side-snap T-shirts for baby and I thought it would be fun to cross-stitch her first initial onto at least one of them.

I have the waste fabric and am all set to go, except for one question --

What do I do about the back? Will it be too scratchy/irritating against her skin? Any advice/suggestions/been-there-done-that?

I have stitched on to t-shirts and sweatshirts but never any thing for a baby or infant. Not sure if they will be more sensitive then an adolecent or adult but I have never put anything over them and some of them I have even used metallics and they do not cause any issue.

My Mum used to embroider my baby clothes with no issues but if you are worried you could always sew a cotton patch over the back.

Cool, thanks, guys. :) I think I'll just do the stitching without doing anything about the back and if there's a problem once she's born, I'll worry about it then. ;)
