A tribute to my mom...lots of pics of her work

Post by TracyG »

I've been missing my mom a lot lately. She passed away 4 and a half years ago and I just miss her, some days more than others. So, I felt like I wanted to show you my inspiration...her finished works and her WIPs that I'm planning on finishing. I even have a project that she didn't quite get around to starting. Thanks for letting me share and relive some really good memories.

First, the things she made for me:

Here are Mom's WIPs...some of them are really close to being done.

And the project she had all kitted up, ready to go:

Makes me feel better just having the work of her hands near me.

Thank you so much for taking the trouble of photographing these beautiful pieces of work to show us. I particularly like the one for an adopted person, what lovely sentiments, so warm and loving.

Good luck with completing the WIP´s.

Amanda, what a beautiful person your mother must have been. I love all the beautiful pieces of art she worked on, especially Legacy of an Adopted Child. Its words are so inspiring.

Thank you for sharing these lovely pieces of her work and I too look forward to seeing those WIP's progressing to the finish. :D :rose:

I'm with evedeve, it does make me smile that she was a serial starter. I do hope you feel you can finish some of them.

I'm so glad that you are celebrating your mums legacy. It's beautiful that she left something so intrinsically "her" for you.

Thanks for all your wonderful comments! I know my mom would be flattered and grateful for them. I'm amazed at how comforting it was yesterday to take stock of her projects and realize that I'll always have that connection with her...not only her work but the love we both have of the craft. And to think that I can share it all with you wonderful people and you really "get it" makes it even better!

Sorry, but I am posting under tears, HAPPY tears. I just love the adoption poem that she made you. She really felt it was needed for you to understand how you came into 2 people's lives with so much love given by them both. :grouphug:
She was very talented. Awesome work.
She would be "honored" knowing you will be finishing her WIP'S, as it will bring love and peace to you while you are stitching, as she will be "looking down" at you seeing you doing her work and enjoying it.
I lost my mom, Christmas night, 1996. There's isn't a day I don't think of her.
She was my friend and confidant. She knew when I just needed a hug or a phone call and she would come right over. I have so many memories of us doing stuff together.
I drove an hour to another county for a job interview, and she would come and we would go out to eat and spend the rest of the day, just chatting. I could call her up in an instance to ask her to go to Wally world, and in a heart beat, she would be ready. Every time there were things at the children's school, she read in the local paper or I would tell her about, she was there to support them.
You were "truly" blessed in having a mother to share a hobby together.
Looking forward in seeing the finished projects as they come "alive" while you are stitching them. :D

HAPPY STITCHING IN STITCHING LAND. :applesauce: :D :applesauce: :D

Tracy, what a wonderful gift your mom gave you. Not the individual pieces so much as the love of stitching and that you get to complete some of her WIPs is a way to have her even closer. I also thought as you went through the WIPs that I knew she would have been a wonderful forum member with all of her starts. Thank you for sharing her with us.

You mother's work is beautiful! You are so fortunate to have it, especially those WIP's. Are the needles in them the ones that she used or where you've begun working on them? No matter, how wonderful to be able to finish them for her. I stitch but my daughter hasn't shown any interest. It's great that you shared her love of stitching. Thank you for sharing with us.
