I found my UFOs - Elegance of the Orient I had gridded most of the Aida & done a small amount of stitching.
Periwinkle Cottage I had organised threads, sorted chart & done 2 lines of basting stitches to show middle of fabric (across & down). I did a few more lines of gridding last night & decided to do a certain amount of gridding at a time on this, doing more as I go on. Have done from the centre few lines down & am doing few lines across before I start x st.
Looked on Scarlet Quince tutorial pages for gridding & they showed diagrams with the for & against of each way of gridding, also looked in 2 of my x st books & they various options of how to do it. I think Richard does his with fishing line & does a little bit of gridding at a time.
In the past I have always sat & done gridding over whole of Aida but now I am on larger projects thought I would ask to see what others do.
Now grands are growing up & going to more things I should have more free time so hope to be on here regularly again

BTW.... on Anchor instruction leaflet it said to iron fabric & smooth out any creases before starting to stitch. I think it was quite recently queried on here - I seem to recall someone, think it was Wendy, who said they had sometimes ironed fabric prior to stitching to get creases out.
Also found out I've been dong three quarter stitches the 'wrong' way. When I did the bar of the stitch I never held it in place with small stitch lying over it. I had smallest lying next to the larger one. Oh dear, never mind - no one noticed & my finished projects looked OK - I will do them the correct way in future as I don't want a slapped wrist
