Hi there..

I was wondering something, what does '18 count' , '24 count' stitching means?
I've seen several posts with this and I have no clue what it means.. :thinks:

Count refers to the fabric. 18 count means there are 18 holes in an inch. If you look at the Glossary thread you will find a lot of terms explained.

Yep, 18 ct is 18 holes per inch, 24 ct is 24 holes per inch and so on. The higher the number the smaller the stitching.

Hi Samira, as you're in the Netherlands (waar ik oorspronkelijk vandaan kom :-)) the "count" (how fine the fabric is) will often be given in threads per cm instead of per inch. Evenweave can commonly be found in 10, 11, 12 & 14 "draadjes per cm", and they are approximately the same as 25, 28, 30 and 35/36 count. Blockweaves like aida will often be described as "5,5 kruisjes per cm" which would be 14 count, the most common aida, and the finer ones as 6 or 7 "kruisjes".
Hope this helps!

Oh, sometimes you wil see them called "10-draads" or something like that. That simply means the same as "10 draadjes per cm".
