Re: Counterfeit DMC floss from eBay

Maybe DMC went after the buyer because they could .

By which I mean, perhaps they couldn't take any action against the real culprit and so chose to make an example of someone they could prosecute; a sort of, "this is what happens if we think you are trying to cheat us." Disgusting behaviour on the ...

Re: Abit of anything (:

I don't buy any ready made, but I stitch pictures which I then put into window-cards, or into picture frames. For the latter, I try to find inexpensive frames in places like Poundland or charity shops.

I can't help with groups in Preston, but I hope someone else can. Good luck with that.

Re: What else is in your stitch bag?

My stitchy spot is in the kitchen, and that's so small that I have to stand  But it's the only place in the house where the light is good enough. No other stitching stuff there, just the usual things you'd expect in a kitchen, but there is a large cork memo board on one wall, and I pin little ...

Re: Hello

Excuse me, but that doesn't look the slightest bit rubbish to me! Way neater than anything I've done.

Mind you, a little bit of ironing wouldn't go amiss :)

Oh, and, Welcome to the forum :P

Re: Can anyone resize this for me?

Very happy to help :)

I struggled for ages with the same problem. Nothing I tried would bring the file size down low enough. So I asked a friend who is a graphic designer and was told to NOT save it as a normal file, but to use "save for web". (It's in the "File" menu). And that solved it!

Re: Can anyone resize this for me?

Glad to help. Coma :)

Try this one, backafteradozenyrs:
http://www.crossstitchforum.com/gallery/pic.php?mode=large&pic_id=6573

With Photoshop, you open "Image" and "Image Size", change the width and height to "80" and then use "Save for Web". The latter brings down the size of the file ...

Re: Furry

Thanks for the link to that thread, Amanda. That helps a lot! As do the other two possibilities you mention. I had no idea there were all these different kinds. :)

And Lessa, that's a good idea about asking Sew and So. I get a lot of my fabric and etc from them, so maybe I will ask them first and ...

Re: I love stitching

Wow, Niki! It does sound like you've found the right person to help you. That's so good!

I need to move away from the idea that I have to stitch because if I don't the pain will be worse. And just stitch because I love it!!

Yes, I see the distinction now. It escaped me before, but you've just ...

Furry

I like this Halloween design which uses textured floss:

But I'm having difficulty finding FurTaStitch. Does anyone know where I can get it in the UK?

Re: I love stitching

Sorry to hear you suffer with chronic pain. But glad to know stitching gives you some distraction from it.

It's funny you should bring this up, because I've been thinking a lot about "acceptance" lately. And to be honest, I don't really get it.

First though, let me say that I don't think your love ...

No, Rose. You were quite right to do so. You enjoyed what you saw, and wanted to share and congratulate.

If I'm coming across as a sour puss, it's because I see all the things the tv broadcasts aren't showing you. This country has been changed so radically over the past two decades or so, almost to ...

Re: You all did well

Well said, ayna. I completely agree.

It's certainly left a nasty taste in my mouth. I despise the whole thing and feel strongly that there ought to have been a countrywide vote on whether or not it went ahead.
