Re: Gourmet ABC & Other WIPs (update 3 Oct)

I'm going as fast as I possibly can! I'm up for work around 5AM every day, teach all day, get home, get the kiddo to football (soccer) practice, do grading there, get home, make dinner, input grades into the computer, take a quick shower and then stitch till I can't see anymore. :) http://i931.photo...

Whoo hoo!! I'm getting closer.

9/10 for me.. one more to go.

I loved Fahrenheit 451. I read it in middle school, high school and then again in university. It was so good, and I really liked reading it. Maybe I should go read it again.

Those are both adorable. :) I can't wait to see your progress on them.

Just remember, it's only one stitch at a time. You'll get the Faces one done by her birthday - I just know it. :)

You are such a quick stitcher!! Wow. I'm in absolute awe over how fast you stitch.

That's looking amazing. What a great job.

Re: My Bookshelf Bingo - numbers posted daily

none for me today. I didn't want to pick a Michener book. I'm not really a fan of his, they're way too long and too descriptive for me.

I read for fun, and to transport me into a different world. I get enough drama in real life. Reading is a nice escape.

Re: Gourmet ABC & Other WIPs (update 3 Oct)

I stitched until the pizza got here, had my 2 slices, washed my hands after and stayed up until 4:45 in the morning. I do pick up my pizza by the crust, fold it in half and eat it. I'm a Jersey girl.. thought that's how it was done. My British (now citizen husband) also eats his pizza that way. Pizz...

I have 2 more to go!

8/10 for me so far.

I didn't realize I was supposed to post here, but I've read all of the books I picked.

I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Narnia. I can read them over and over and never get bored.

Re: Wet weather here!

Yep, we're getting that lovely rain too here in NJ. I live in an area that was badly hit by Superstorm Sandy, and am just so thankful that we're not getting Joachin too. I don't mind rain, but it's the combination of the high winds and rain that scare the daylights out of me. Stay as dry as possible...

Re: Gourmet ABC & Other WIPs (update 23 Sept)

Here's my (slow) progress on the Gourmet ABC. I've slowed down on this one since I'm working so hard on my Godmothers gift. I'm hoping I can get it done by Christmas, if not, Valentines Day. :wip: :ratherbe: http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad159/journalartquilter/Mobile%20Uploads/20151003_014202....

Re: First HAED Project

Personally I really like the zig zag. Seems sturdier for me.

I tend to grid before I use my q snap, but that's just me. I've only gridded a few projects, and none were super huge.

Can't wait to see your progress

That's a beautiful picture. I'm so sorry that you're not liking what you're stitching, that always makes things seem worse. But wowzers are you a quick stitcher. At the rate you're going, you'll be done before you know it.

Re: Hints please on starting a big project

I use a washable marker to mark out the entire dimensions of the project, and then I count out the pages if it's a multiple page project and use the marker for that. If I'm not feeling really confident, I'll grid every 10 blocks with thread.

And I like to start at the bottom left. Don't know why.

I second the idea of a rehab center, or assisted living facility. Sometimes those places really need something bright and personal on the walls instead of being dreary. My mom broke her hip in May and her rehab facility was so dreary.
